Display Energy Certificates

The Display Energy Certificate (DEC) was designed to assist properties over 1,000sqm which were
run by Local Authorities (or financially supported by Local Authorities) to lower energy costs and are
now being used as a tool for private business to show to the outside World a commitment to lower
energy costs. The Display Energy Certificate concentrates on the energy consumption, rather than
the fabric.

Again like EPCs, the DEC can only be carried out by suitably qualified Energy Surveyors, who are
accredited and carry the correct PI. For a first time DEC we require to inspect the property and
examine energy usage. Back at base we use government approved software to determine the
rating.

We produce this information to you along with a recommendations report. There is a requirement
for a DEC to be carried out every year. Failure to do so carries a fine.
